Mrs Nicolson to the Rescue

On Friday afternoon at home time, Mrs Nicolson saw a hedgehog on the path near the Mission Hall. Having heard recently that if you see a hedgehog during the day then something is wrong (as they are nocturnal they should not be out in the day) she decided it needed help. Using a parent's woolly scarf to wrap it up, she tried to keep it warm. When all the children had left, she went to the school office to phone to get some advice on how to look after it. The office ladies found a box and put in some lovely shredded paper bedding. Then Mrs Nicolson and the hedgehog headed off to the Isle of Wight.

When she got home, Mrs Nicolson gave it some dog food for dinner and it was very hungry.

On Sunday a lady from Isle of Wight Hedgehog Rescue came .She said it was a girl hedgehog aged about 3 months. She took it away to look after over the winter when it should really be hibernating.

What a lucky hedgehog!!

Here are some photos :)
